Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing technical support to engineering projects and teams. The Engineering Technologist will be responsible for the Bill of Materials generation and maintenance. The successful candidate will be able to understand and interpret technical drawings, prepare documents, reports, maintenance manuals, and use computer-aided design (CAD) software. The Engineering Technologist must be able to communicate effectively with other engineering, customer service, and assembly teammates. A strong understanding of engineering principles and practices is essential for this role.
Essential Functions Performed
· Create, maintain and manage all Bill of Materials (BOMs) via ERP Software. Work in teams with engineering, assembly and sales departments.
· Write and maintain assigned product installation, operation and maintenance (IOM) manuals, and technical documents.
· Research hardware for BOMs and product manuals. Understand fastener specifications and assembly torque values and equations.
· Request quotes from fastener vendors.
· Create custom work order routings for production.
Education
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology, engineering, or a related field
Experience
· Experience in engineering technology
· Knowledge of engineering principles and practices
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
· Basic computer operation and understanding (must be exceptional with computer operation and file structures)
· Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP or similar ERP software
· Adobe products: Acrobat, Illustrator & Photoshop
· Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD (.iam, .ipt, .idw, .ipn files)
· MS Excel and Word (must be able to navigate complex Excel functions and utilize bookmarks and references in Word)
· Basic knowledge of mechanical or rotating/pump equipment
· Navigate and create basic assemblies/parts with CAD software
· Mechanical background/understanding of rotating equipment
· Proficient with database management
· Knowledge of industry safety practices and principles
· Attention to detail, problem solving, critical thinking, team player and data analysis
· Ability to identify and use predefined mathematical equations
· Understand the importance of consistency in data entry/databases
· Communication of presenting data of produced works or issues found when gathering data
· Good communication skills, both verbal and written
· Ability to write detailed reports and instructions
