Job Description:
The Industrial Pump Technical Support Specialist will be responsible for troubleshooting technical issues,
gathering and analyzing technical data, reviewing customer applications/installations, effectively
communicating product updates and new product releases. This role is essential in building and
maintaining libraries of technical information to ensure that our customers and sales team receive the best
support possible. Provide periodic training to internal staff and distributors as needed.
The Industrial Pump Technical Support Specialist will also provide application engineering services, and
technical support to all authorized Summit Pump distributors, RSMs (Regional Sales Managers) and sales
staff thorough review of customer RFQs and specifications, design review, material/pump selection and
pricing/delivery information. Offer design alternatives to meet or exceed customer’s applications and to
maximize margin and reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Summit Pump products via phone and email
- Gather and analyze technical data to identify patterns, trends, and areas for improvement
- Review customer installations and provide recommendations for proper setup and usage
- Recommend and quote proper pump equipment per customer specifications
- Clearly communicate product updates and technical information to customers and internal teams
- Develop and maintain a library of technical information, FAQs, and troubleshooting guides
- Assist in the creation of training materials and conduct customer training sessions as needed
- Collaborate with the Customer Service, Sales/Distribution, and Production teams to address
customer feedback and improve product offerings - Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a high level of satisfaction among our customers
- Attend industry events and conferences to stay informed on the latest trends and technologies
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in technical support or a similar role
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to complete tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical
information to non-technical audiences - Familiarity with industrial pumps, mechanical seals, motors, assemblies, or related equipment
- Strong knowledge of engineering principles including fundamentals of fluid mechanics, pump
curve analysis, design, material selection, and factory processes - Ability to understand and apply predefined mechanical equations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
AutoCAD and Inventor navigation - ERP experience and database management/navigation
- Knowledge /experience with other ASME/ ASM / API /PIP / HI/ ANSI and IEEE specifications
as needed - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Occasionally lifting pumps/parts up to 50 pounds
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and the industry best practices methods, materials,
operations and repairs.
